NEET PG: Tips and Tricks

Updated: Jul 28, 2023

Hello everybody! I am an upcoming resident, MBBS batch 2016, completed internship in May 2022.

Going from AIR 74k in NEET PG 2022 to AIR 1.2k in 2023, I would like to share my experiences and

lessons, anticipating it would be helpful to those in their journey to the upcoming entrances.

  • WHEN TO START THE PREPARATION?

The earlier, the better. If you think you can handle the heavy duties of internship alongside your

exam preparation, good for you. It is taxing, but not impossible (I have a friend who cracked it in her first go, what people generally call ‘the 0th attempt’). If you want to take one thing at a time, you can start it after the completion of internship.

  • ONLINE/OFFLINE CLASSES?

Because we love algorithms and flowcharts for everything,

how to choose best mode of preparation for oneself

Other than these personal preferences, there is no written rule that one single mode of learning or any one educational platform is superior to the other.

  • THE PLAN

Duration: 9-10 months approximately = 6 months - classes

2 months - 1st revision

1 month - 2nd revision

13 days - 3rd /final revision

2 days - 20th notebook

GTs: Start with 1 GT/month and get to 1 GT/10 days during revisions. Get done with GT reviews in the same day.

PYQs: are a must every day. It is advisable to make a note of new points from PYQs on a piece of

paper. It will hardly take 1-2 pages per subject, so 40 pages on the whole. Keep revising them till the

end. A minimum of past 5 years of PYQs are recommended.

20th notebook/Chhoti copy: Make a personalized book for the topics that you find difficult to

remember. Make tables, flowcharts, one-liners, whatever helps you revise and remember better.

Read it every day.

  • RESOURCES

Although I personally feel it is better to stick to one institute/platform for all 19 subjects, there are

certain topics that you might feel like you need more detailed information, more tips to understand

and learn it better. Here is the list of some of the educators/sources I found online which were helpful for me and they are absolutely free (you can find them on YouTube/Telegram and watch their videos according to the topic of your choice)

1. Dr. Nikita Nanwani - NF100 (Dr Nikita's NEETPG FMGE Top 100 Topics)

4. Physics Wallah MedEd rapid revision videos

And many more…

As you watch videos of different faculty, it is not uncommon to get tempted to watch all of their

videos. It could be due to your fear of missing out on the information that others might be knowing.

There is endless data on the internet but it is up to you to limit your materials and be thorough with

whatever you have in hand. I know it is easier said (or written) than done. But the only key that I

know of, to make it through, is RESILIENCE.
